Dr. Christopher Schwarz is a Michigan native. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit with a medical degree, and completed graduate studies in Protein Biochemistry also earning a PhD. He completed his internal medicine residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago before relocating to the Southeast to do his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Schwarz is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
He joined the group in 1998. Some of his clinical interests include biliary and pancreatic diseases, therapeutic endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, and endoscopic ultrasound. Dr. Schwarz has been involved with fundraising for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation, and the Cancer Hospital at Rex Healthcare.
He lives in North Raleigh with his wife and has four children. He enjoys traveling and water sports with his family, as well as drawing and sculpture. Dr. Schwarz is also proficient in Spanish. He and his family attend Open Door Baptist Church.
