Farah Hussain, MD

GASTROENTEROLOGIST

Dr. Hussain was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Baghdad, Iraq.  She received her medical degree from the University of Sulaimani School of Medicine in Sulaimani, Iraq.  She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and gastroenterology fellowship at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.  She did an additional year of advanced endoscopy fellowship at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  Dr. Hussain is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

In addition to managing various general gastrointestinal conditions, her clinical interest and particular focus are on complex esophageal diseases and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).  She has expertise in managing complex esophageal diseases medically and endoscopically. Her research experience during training was centered on understanding the molecular basis of different GI diseases, in particular Barrett’s Esophagus.  This research experience has provided her with in-depth understanding of the pathogenesis of the disease.

Dr. Hussain has enormous pride in the quality of care she provides for her patients and she tailors the care to their specific needs, whether that will be listening and reassurance or performing an elaborate procedure.  She aspires every time a patient leaves her office, he/she has a clear understanding of the disease process and the plan to manage it.

In her free time, Dr. Hussain enjoys spending time with her family, running, playing tennis, and watching sports.
