Dr. Whitt is a Virginia native. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

He completed his residency training in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and gastroenterology at the University of Tennessee,  and Hepatology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Transplant Hepatology.

He joined the group, in 2012. His clinical interests include the study of liver diseases and therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP.

He and his wife live in Raleigh with their four children. In his free time, Dr. Whitt enjoys running and spending time with his family.
